Thomas D'Udiyana

.....Thomas Edward Brokaw (Thomas D' Udiyana) is a composer and a multi-string instrumentalist. Plays the Sitar, Doutar, Sarod, Mandolin, Acoustic and Electric Bass, 6 and 12 String Guitars and is responsible for the recordings and productions of Udiyana´s CDs. Thomas is Brazilian born, from Salvador, Bahia. The youngest son of Regina Strand and William E. Brokaw.
His Musicality appeared early, growing up in the Salvador-Bahia always listening to the Native Capoeira's music and the rythums of Candomble. When his family moved to Rio de Janeiro late 60´s. His brother Richard who is also a Musician, had a small garage band, and the repertoaire was of course, Rock from the late 60,s At 17 he spent some months in California, LA where besides studying, jammed with local bands in Anaheim and Fullerton. Returning to Brazil in 1975, he was called to fit in as the Bass player for a Group called Black Zé, (together with his brother Richard Brokaw) Their famous Araras Studio (in the Petropolis Moutain Range)was a fantastic place for Creation and rehearsal of their songs, performing many Gigs and shows always in the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo area.
In 1978 he toured Europe and in 1979 spent some months in India and Nepal researching the music from India. Back in Brazil he engages in many musical projects. Makrosom(81), with Luiz Marcos, and Udiyana Bandha (86), with Chandra Lacombe, and Claudio Vinicius. Udiyana is back on the road and preparing a beautifull tour for 2010.
"Allthough 24 years have passed my dedication to the band has been a priority. My musical inspirations come from good feelings related to Trips, meeting interesting people in gatherings and New Age feasts". Thomas'approach to enviromental awareness, puts Udiyana Bandha into the front of Musical Movements for Peace and Ahimsa, and offers a Community life style and Ecoconciousness as a path for a safe Future, using Permaculture and Recycling as a base.
Gui Mendonça.....Guilherme Mendonca, is from Três Pontas in the state of Minas Gerais, center south of Brazil, the same town as our well known musician, Milton Nascimento. He lives in a beautiful mountain side area which includes the Matutu Valley, very inspirational to his musical insights, which includes playing the tamboura, an oriental string instrument from India, and also the afro-indo percussion. Gui is a very talented artist from the stained glass scene, creating beautiful prisms and mandalas of many different colors and forms. He has been studying Indian Percussin for many years and has a teacher in India where he spends seasons in the Sacha Dham Ashram where Sri Sacha Prem Baba and Sri Hansmaharajji administrates their Sacha Mission which includes spreading Spiritual Knowledge and recieving many puples at threre Daily Satsangas.

Chandra Lacombe
.....Marcos Lacombe (Chandra) is a percussionist and composer. He started at 14 playing the Bongos. Marcos, also known by the name of Chandra, plays Tabla (Indian drum), Congas and Bongos, his speciality, however, is the Kalimba, an African instrument (Thumb Piano) and also his voice, singing in pitches so high that makes it difficult for even women to sing along with him. Recently, Chandra participated in the recording of a CD about the work of Paulo Coelho author of the best sellers "The Alchemist" and "The Magician's Diary", with famous Brazilian composer Roberto Menescal in Rio de Janeiro. Chandra is also a musical therapist and invented the Musical Oracle, an inner guide to energetic connections and is also a musical Shaman and promotes rituals making a fusion of the Vedanta culture with Ayuhuasca tradition.
Leal Carvalho

.....Leal Carvalho is a fantastic composer and very good singer. He's born in Rio de Janeiro one of twelve sons of his parents Mr. & Ms. Carvalho. Almost all of then are musicians. His father worked in the Brasilia's Music School and his mother was a singer. One of his positive musical aspects is to compose songs that reflect very situations especialy when he is inspired meeting friends and traveling around. His lyrics has a lot of vision, mainly about spiritual growth, consciousness, and with a lot of afro swing. He into the band after having been called by Claudio Vinicius wich lived in the same neighborhood in 1986.
Marcelo Bernardes

.....Marcelo Bernardes is from Rio de Janeiro, and very active in the music scene of the city. He plays all saxophones, clarinet, metal and wooden flutes (plus the piccolo flute and ocarina), and has performed with famous Brazilian musicians such as, Chico Buarque, Nana Cayimi, Djavan and Claudio Nucci. He is also a very sought-after studio musician and plays in another Brazilian regional band called Choro na Feira. He is responsible for playing at some of the best samba jazz Rio music gigs, performing with other composers of instrumental music and also has beautiful NEW ERA® compositions.

Cláudio Vinicius
.....Claudio Vinicius (Viny) is also a composer and a multi-instrumentalist. He started his musical career at 6, as the first trumpet player in his school band. During his teen years, he was accepted into the Brasilia Institute of Music, where he developed his talents as a composer for ten string guitar, acoustic guitar and piano, while still playing trumpet at the Brasilia School of Music orchestra. At 16, he composed his first sound track for a short movie "Cidade Livre" (Free Town). A year later he wrote for Coracao Vermelho II (Red Heart II) a ballet by the Graziela Rodrigues Ballet Company. In 1989, Vinicius entered Brasilia University to study music and, with a scholarship from the Brazilian Government, started to compose sound tracks for television, cinema and theater. He has won several awards for best compositions for sound tracks, including the best sound track for the 1994 Brazilian Festival of Cinema with the movie "Crazy for Cinema" directed by Andre Luiz Oliveira. In 1995, Vinicius came to California with another Brazilian musician, Fernando Corbal, to play for a New Years Eve Concert and a Sunset Concert, both at Meditation Mount in Ojai. Its his the famous Udiyana hit Bija Flor(Humming Bird).
Luiz Marcos
.....Winner of the ?Mapping of the New Brazilian Music? awarded by the Itaú Bank in 1992 for recording the CD ?Ziriguidum do Além,? in which he plays acoustic guitar with percussionist and composer Renato Mattos, a renowned musician from Bahia, Luiz Marcos Bianchi Leite de Vasconcelos began his professional career writing songs, playing guitar and singing with the band ?Duplo Etéreo? in Rio de Janeiro in 1970, whose members included Lourenço Baeta (today a member of the "Boca Livre" band) and Herman Torres (who later on set up the band ?Gang 90 e Absurdetes?). The Duplo Etéreo band was mentioned in the Rolling Stone magazine as one of the bands that made the history of rock music in Rio de Janeiro.

.....In 1973, he recorded two albums with the band ?Children of God,? the first of the which was number one in the hit parade in Brazil for over six months for the song ?Aleluia,? sung by Luiz Marcos. The band included guitarist Jeremy Spencer from Fletwood Mac, who was awarded the prize of best slide guitarist in the world for two consecutive years.
.....In 1980, Luiz met Thomas Brokaw, a former member of the ?Black Zé? band, with whom he set up the ?Makrossom? band, which performed for many years in alternative and spiritualist events in different cities in Brazil. This phase is registered in the CD ?Sinais.? He also played with Udiana Bandha on different occasions.
.....In 1989, he set up a new ?Double Etéreo? in Brasília with renowned musicians from the city: lead guitarist Haroldinho Mattos, drummer Rodrigo Galvão, and bassist Betão, with Luiz Marcos playing acoustic guitar, singing, and writing the songs played by the band. The band performed in different spaces in Brasília, such as in the Gate?s Pub and Feitiço Mineiro, for three years.
.....In 1992, he set up the band ?Midnight Cowboy? with his old partner Thomas Brokaw and other musicians from Brasília, including Leander Motta, Haroldinho Matos and Pedro Martins, who were also members of the band ?Oficina Blues.?
.....Since 1995, Luiz Marcos has been performing regularly with Thomas Brokaw (bass guitar, André Kassis (drums) and Haroldinho Mattos (lead guitar) in show and festivals in Brasília, Pirenópolis and Goiânia.
